As an abstract artist I draw inspiration from life and nature. Texture and mixed media are incorporated into my work creating an array of designs throughout the composition.
My background in architecture influences the design, color and repetitive shapes I create. Markings and other designs are added throughout the process, at times appearing and disappearing through the application of paint. I greatly admire Helen Frankenthaler, Willem De Kooning, Mark Rothko and Jackson Pollock.
I start with a primary design just as a guide, but mainly my inspiration will come from a word, feeling or other influences happening throughout the world. Social causes seem to influence my work currently and I enjoy creating series with one topic. This process enables me to have a body of work under one title supported with other pieces in the collection.
I am mainly self-taught with some formal training. I continually read up on art movements and applications that other artists have used and that aid me in creating my own techniques.
